Straight benches and trapezoid window seats
A hallway or dining bench is usually a rectangle: one length, one depth, squared or rounded corners. A bay window or built-in nook is often a trapezoid — the front edge is wider than the back where the wall pinches in. The designer takes front width and back width separately so the pad follows the opening instead of leaving a gap at the wall or hanging into the room.
Seat only, or bench with a back
Bench / Window Seat is the seat slab alone — the usual choice for a window seat, a piano bench, or an open patio bench. Bench w/ Back adds a separate back cushion with its own height, for a dining bench that has a rail or a built-in with a wall pad. Long runs can be one piece or split into sections. Split pads are easier to flip, vacuum, and carry inside for winter.
How to measure a bench or window seat
Measure the sitting surface, not a flattened old foam. Length is along the bench; depth is front-to-back. For a trapezoid, measure the long front edge and the short back edge. If you add a back, measure height from the seat to the top of the rail or to where you want the pad to stop on the wall. Thickness is often 2–3″ on a dining bench (so you still sit at table height) and 3–4″ on a lounge or window seat. Write the numbers down, then enter them in the designer.
Indoor kitchens vs outdoor patio benches
A breakfast-nook bench that never sees weather can use standard indoor foam. A porch swing-bed, garden bench, or uncovered patio bench should use densified fiber or reticulated foam so rain drains instead of soaking a sponge. Swing-bed customers often start here: a long seat (and sometimes a back) in outdoor fabric, same workroom as the rest of the patio set.
Ties, welting, and everyday use
Outdoor slat benches and swing beds benefit from ties. A deep window-seat pan often holds the pad by a snug footprint alone. Boxed edge looks tailored on a built-in; welting outlines the seam if you want a more finished indoor look. Kids and pets are the reason many households pick densified fiber even indoors — messes stay on the cover.
Replacement pads and odd lengths
There is no standard “72-inch bench cushion” that fits every built-in. Enter your exact length — we build within ½″. If the opening is an odd polygon, a cardboard template mailed to 1120 Everee Inn Road, Griffin, GA 30224 is safer than guessing. Production time starts when the template arrives. Pews, long public benches, and trade orders
Church pews and waiting-room benches are long, often split into sections so they can be flipped and cleaned, and they are usually a trade conversation — volume, fabric spec, and how the pad attaches to the pew. Fabric, swatches, and lead time
Match the bench to dining chairs or to the sofa with the same Sunbrella (or a contrast from the same collection). Order a swatch and leave it on the window seat at different times of day — north light and sunset change the color. Standard production is about 15 business days; expedited production is at checkout. Every bench cushion is cut and sewn in-house, never overseas.

Can you make a trapezoid window seat cushion?
Yes. Choose the trapezoid footprint and enter front width and back width. That is the usual bay-window shape.
Should I order one long cushion or split it?
One piece looks seamless. Split sections are easier to flip, clean, and store. Either works; we cut both in the same fabric when you order together.
What fill is best for an outdoor bench?
Densified fiber is the standard draining outdoor fill. Reticulated foam is the premium upgrade. Use indoor foam only if the bench never sees weather.
Can you cushion a swing bed?
Yes. Most swing beds use the bench (and optional back) flow at mattress-like dimensions. Enter length, depth, and thickness, and pick an outdoor fill.
